Gordon Hessler sfrutta con buona fantasia horror, fantamedicina e spionaggio ed
ipoteca il successo al botteghino avvalendosi di un celebre trio dell'horror britannico. Chushing, Price e Lee, per la
verità, 

hanno parti brevi e non si vedono mai insieme, ma la loro presenza si fa sentire.
Con una
buona dose di humor nero, il regista lascia incerto lo spettatore sulla vera identità dei personaggi che gli mostra
sullo schermo e sorride sul dubbio che da sempre assilla il cittadino comune su chi ci 

sia, veramente, ai
comandi di una nazione.












Mentre a Londra si aggira un fantomatico assassino, in uno Stato dell'Est si
indaga sulla morte di esponenti di primo piano dei servizi segreti. I due fatti, apparentemente privi di connessione,
conducono al 

laboratorio del dottor Browning, autorità in materia di trapianti di organi e di
ricostruzione di membra con muscoli sintetici. Ossessionato dall'idea dell'uomo perfetto, lo scienziato ha costruito
alcuni 

uomini artificiali, ma diversi esemplari sono già in giro per il mondo e, imprevedibilmente
sfuggiti ad ogni controllo, hanno intrapreso scelte e decisioni autonome. Il lavoro di Browning scatena una guerra di


spie, essendo diversi gruppi politici interessati ad assicurarsi il segreto della super-razza.........
